Frequently Asked Questions
Prices depend on the document, the language pair and the authority that will receive it, so every quote is tailored. Fill in the form or email us, and we will usually reply within one business day.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Prices depend on the length and type of document, the language pair, the deadline and whether notarisation or legalization is needed. Send us a scan and we will reply with a free, tailored quote.
How long does it take?
Standard documents such as certificates are often translated within two to three business days. Legalization depends on the authorities and embassies involved. Urgent service is available on request.
Do you serve clients outside Kampala?
Yes. We serve clients throughout Uganda, including Entebbe, Jinja, Mbarara, Gulu, Mbale, Arua, Fort Portal and Hoima. Most work can be done remotely, and originals can be sent by courier.
Which languages do you translate?
English, Swahili, Luganda, Runyankole, Rukiga, Lusoga, Acholi, Lango, Ateso, Lugbara, Runyoro, Rutooro, French, Arabic, German, Chinese and many other languages.
Is Uganda part of the Apostille Convention?
Uganda is not currently a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. Ugandan documents for use abroad are therefore usually authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and legalized by the relevant embassy. We confirm the current requirements for your destination before starting.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Your documents are only used to complete your request and are shared only with the translators, notaries and authorities involved in your file.
Certified Translation
Will my certified translation be accepted by the embassy?
Each embassy has its own rules: some accept a translator's certification, others require a notarised or legalised translation. Tell us which authority will receive the document and we will prepare it to their requirements.
Can I send scans instead of originals?
Yes. Clear scans or photos are enough for us to quote and translate. If the receiving authority needs the translation bound to the original, we will tell you how to get the original to us.
Apostille Services
Can a Ugandan document get an apostille?
Uganda is not currently a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, so Ugandan public documents are generally authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then legalized by the embassy of the destination country. We handle that full chain for you. Rules change, so we always confirm the current route before starting.
My document was issued in Europe but I live in Uganda. Can you still help?
Yes. Our offices and partners abroad can obtain the apostille in the issuing country and courier the document to you in Uganda, or straight to the authority that needs it.
Embassy & Consulate Legalization
How long does embassy legalization take?
It depends on the document, the issuing authority and the embassy's processing times. Many files are completed within one to three weeks. We give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
Should the translation be legalized too?
Often, yes. Some embassies want the original legalized and then translated; others want the translation itself legalized. We check the rules for your destination country so the steps happen in the correct order.
Notary Services
Do I need to appear in person?
For signature notarisation the signatory normally has to appear before the notary with valid identification. For notarised translations and certified copies, we can usually handle everything without you being present.
Certified True Copies
Will a foreign authority accept a Ugandan certified copy?
Many do, but some require the certification itself to be legalized. Tell us where the copy is going and we will confirm what is needed.
Power of Attorney
I live abroad and need to sell land in Uganda. Can you help?
Yes. We can help you sign a power of attorney in your country of residence, have it notarised and legalized there, and provide a certified translation if it is not in English, so it can be used before Ugandan authorities. For the legal content of the document itself, we recommend you consult a Ugandan advocate.
Document Retrieval
What do you need from me to retrieve a document?
Usually a copy of your ID or passport, the details of the record (names, dates, place of registration) and a signed authorisation. Some registries also require fingerprints or an in-person step; we will tell you in advance.
Interpreting Services
How far in advance should I book an interpreter?
As early as possible: ideally one to two weeks for on-site assignments and longer for conferences. We also handle urgent requests whenever an interpreter is available.
